Bruce Friedrich

Bruce Gregory Friedrich (born August 7, 1969) is co-founder and executive director of The Good Food Institute (GFI),[1] a non-profit that received donation funding from Y Combinator.[2] Friedrich has appeared on the TED Radio Hour, New Yorker Radio Hour, ReCode Decode, Ezra Klein and Rich Roll podcasts, and more.[3][4][5][6][7][8][9] He has written on food sustainability for the Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, The Guardian, Wired, and other publications.[10][11][12][13][14][15] His 2019 TED talk, “The Next Global Agricultural Revolution," has been viewed more than two million times and translated into 30 languages.[16]

Friedrich is a member of Giving What We Can, a community of people who have pledged to donate at least 10% of their income to the world's most effective charitable organisations.[17]

Early life and education

Friedrich was born in West Lafayette, Indiana on August 7, 1969.[18] He graduated from Norman High School (Norman, Oklahoma) in 1987.[19] He served as president of the Cleveland County Young Democrats during his last two years of high school and campaigned for the late Sen. Paul Simon (D-Ill.) in 1987 during his first year of college. Friedrich graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Grinnell College with a B.A. in English, Economics, and Religion.[20][18] He holds degrees from Johns Hopkins University and the London School of Economics, and received his J.D. degree from Georgetown University Law Center, graduating magna cum laude, Order of the Coif.[21]
