Punggol West Single Member Constituency

Punggol West Single Member Constituency is a Single Member Constituency located in the north-eastern area of Singapore formed in 2020. The constituency is carved out from Pasir Ris–Punggol GRC.[1] The incumbent MP is Sun Xueling.

History

Punggol West used to be part of the Pasir Ris–Punggol GRC. However, in 2020, Punggol West was carved into the new constituency called Punggol West Single Member Constituency and reducing the size of the Pasir Ris–Punggol GRC from six to five seats. Schools like Oasis Primary, Punggol Cove Primary and Waterway Primary were carved in the new SMC. People's Action Party (PAP) candidate Sun Xueling defeated Worker's Party (WP) candidate Tan Chen Chen with a vote count of 60.97% vs 39.03% in the 2020 Singapore general election which made her the incumbent MP of the new constituency of Punggol West.

Punggol West SMC with Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC are under same town council, Paris Ris-Punggol Town Council.
