Necoclí

Necoclí is a town and municipality in Antioquia Department, Colombia. It is on the eastern shore of the Gulf of Urabá.

It was founded as a Spanish city called San Sebastián de Buena Vista. One of Colombia's oldest towns, it was founded in 1509[2] by Pedro de Heredia who died in 1555.

The town is served by Necoclí Airport.

Necoclí has a tropical monsoon climate (Am) with moderate rainfall from January to March and heavy rainfall in the remaining months.

History

Seven hundred migrants were stranded on a beach in Necoclí, hoping to pass through the Darién Gap to Panama and the United States on January 29, 2021.[4]
