Pietje Feitsma

Pietje Hornstra-Feitsma (born 9 December 1918) is a former Dutch female kortebaan speed skater.[2]

Feitsma was born according to the original register in Hijlaard,[1] while a source also indicates Dronrijp.[2] She rode her first competition on 6 December 1933 when she was 14 years old in her hometown Dronrijp. She won the first prize (f 40,-) ahead of Trijntje Terpstra and her three year older sister Loltje. On 17 December the same year she won the silver medal at the Dutch National Kortebaan Speed Skating Championships in Warga, where she lost the final of Grietje Bijlsma.[2]

Family

Her grandfather Age Feitsma van Duinum was also a speed skater winning prizes in 1865 and 1866. Next to her sister Jeltje, also her brother Age (born 1918; emigrated to the United States) won prizes in 1918.[2]
