Sophie Westenbroek

Sophie Piest-Westenbroek (born 26 May 1948 in Steggerda) is a Dutch former long track speed skater, who was active from 1973 to 1983.[1]

Westenbroek represented her nation four times at the World Allround Speed Skating Championships for Women (1975 (8th overall), 1978 (13th overall), 1979 (9th overall) and 1980 (24th overall)) and three times at the World Sprint Speed Skating Championships (1975 (10th overall), 1978 (11th overall) and 1979 (24th overall)).[2] She also competed at other international competitions.[2]

Between 1973 and 1982 she competed ten times at the Dutch Allround Championships, winning the silver medal in 1975 and the bronze medal in 1977 and 1979.[2] In December 1982 she finished second at the Dutch National Kortebaan Speed Skating Championships behind Ietje Timmer. In 1973, 1974 en 1978 she won the IJsselcup.

Westenbroek married Harry Piest. After her speed skating career she became trainer at the Hardrijders Club Heerenveen (HCH).[3]
