Enilda

Enilda is a hamlet in northern Alberta within Big Lakes County,[1] located 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) west of Highway 49, approximately97 kilometres (60 mi) northeast of Grande Prairie.

The community's name is that of Adline Tompkins, an early postmaster's wife, spelled backwards.[2]

Demographics

As a designated place in the 2016 Census of Population conducted by Statistics Canada, Enilda recorded a population of 155 living in 64 of its 73 total private dwellings, a change of -6.1% from its 2011 population of 165. With a land area of 0.72 km2 (0.28 sq mi), it had a population density of 215.3/km2 (557.6/sq mi) in 2016.[3]

As a designated place in the 2011 Census, Enilda had a population of 165 living in 66 of its 69 total dwellings, a 3.1% change from its 2006 population of 160. With a land area of 0.64 km2 (0.25 sq mi), it had a population density of 257.8/km2 (668/sq mi) in 2011.[4]
