List of power stations in North Carolina

This is a list of electricity-generating power stations in North Carolina, sorted by type and name. In 2018, North Carolina had a total summer capacity of 34,178 MW through all of its power plants, and a net generation of 134,250 GWh.[2] North Carolina's electrical energy generation mix in 2020 was 22.93% coal, 31.34% natural gas, 30.37% nuclear, 5.40% hydroelectric, 9.81% other renewables and .16% petroleum fired. As of 2018, North Carolina has the second-highest installed solar power generating capacity with more than 4,100 megawatts. It is also the nation's fifth largest producer of nuclear power, however nuclear power was surpassed by natural gas in 2018 as the state's leading source for electricity.[1]
