Ng Ling Ling

Ng Ling Ling (Chinese: 黄玲玲; pinyin: Huáng Línglíng; born 1972) is a Singaporean politician who is the Member of Parliament for the Jalan Kayu ward of Ang Mo Kio GRC since the 2020 elections for the 14th Parliament of Singapore.

Education

Ng attended Raffles Girls' School and Raffles Junior College.[1] She graduated from Nanyang Technological University with a bachelor’s degree in accountancy in 1994 and obtained a master's degree in public administration from the Australian National University in 2003.[1][2]

Career

On graduation, Ng was in the banking industry for six years. At age 29, she joined the social service sector by working at the National Council of Social Service.[3] Ng became the managing director of the Community Chest (Comchest) for five years, stepping down in June 2018.[2][4] Ng was the former chief of future primary care and director of community engagement at the Ministry of Health's Office for Healthcare Transformation.[2]

Politics

Ng Ling Ling was fielded in 2020 Singaporean general election to contest in Ang Mo Kio Group Representation Constituency on People's Action Party's ticket against the Reform Party.[5] Ng's running mates were Lee Hsien Loong, Darryl David, Gan Thiam Poh, Nadia Ahmad Samdin. She was then appointed Deputy Chairperson of Health Government Parliamentary Committee (GPC) in the 14th Parliament of Singapore. [5] On 11 July 2020, Ng and team was declared to be elected to represent Ang Mo Kio GRC in the 14th Parliament of Singapore, garnering 71.91% of the valid votes.[6]

Accolades

Ng Ling Ling was awarded 2018 Her World Woman of the Year for her work in The Community Chest of Singapore.[4]

Personal life

Ng grew up in a three-room HDB flat.[3] She is married, with one son.[4]
