Rachel Ong

Rachel Ong Sin Yen (Chinese: 王心妍, born 1972) is a Singaporean politician currently serving as a Member of the Parliament of West Coast GRC for Telok Blangah since 10 July 2020 & was appointed as vice chairman of the West Coast Town Council with Ang Wei Neng.

Education and personal life

Ong obtained master's degrees in business administration at INSEAD and Tsinghua University.[1] She is currently single.[1]

Career

Before entering to politics, she was involved in charity work including Trybe.[1][2] She was also the Vice-Chairwoman of the Telok Blangah Citizens' Consultative Committee, as well as the Chief Executive of ROHEI.[1][2]

In 2020 election, Ong was nominated a candidate of the ruling People's Action Party (PAP) for West Coast GRC.[3] On 10 July, her team defeated the opposition team from the Progress Singapore Party (PSP) with a marginal win, led by an ex-MP and an ex-presidential candidate in 2011 Tan Cheng Bock.[4]
