2022 California elections

The 2022 California elections will take place on November 8, 2022. The Statewide Direct Primary Election will be held on June 7, 2022.[1]

California voters will elect all of California's seats to the United States House of Representatives, one seat to the United States Senate, all of the seats of the California State Assembly, all even-numbered seats of the California State Senate, and the Governor of California and various statewide offices.

United States Congress

House of Representatives

There are approximately 53 seats in the United States House of Representatives in California which will be up for election.[lower-alpha 1]

Senate

The 2022 United States Senate election in California will be held on November 8, 2022, to elect a member of the United States Senate to represent the state of California.

Kamala Harris, who was elected in 2016, resigned her seat on January 18, 2021,[2] after she was elected Vice President in the presidential election with Joe Biden. Governor Gavin Newsom appointed California Secretary of State Alex Padilla to succeed her.[3]

State

Governor

The 2022 California gubernatorial election will take place on November 8, 2022, to elect the Governor of California. Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom will be eligible to seek a second term but has not yet indicated if he will do so.

Executive offices

In addition to the governor, California will elect the following statewide offices:[4]

State Senate

Californians will elect all even-numbered seats to the California State Senate.

State Assembly

Californians will elect all of the seats to the California State Assembly.
