"Liberate the South" (Vietnamese: Giải phóng miền Nam, also known as "Liberate the South", was the national anthem of the Provisional Revolutionary Government of the Republic of South Vietnam from 1969 to 1976.

History

Lưu Hữu Phước (1921–1989), a well-known Vietnamese communist and songwriter, wrote both the lyrics and composed the music to "Liberate the South" in 1961. In 1939, Phước wrote the music of what would become the national anthem of South Vietnam, although this was before he became a communist.[1]
