The Royal Anthem of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan

"as-Salām al-Malakī al-ʾUrdunī" (Arabic: السلام الملكي الأردني, lit. 'The Royal Anthem of Jordan') is the national anthem of Jordan, adopted in 1946. The lyrics were written by ʿAbdel Munʿim al-Rifāʿī and the music was composed by ʿAbdul al-Qādir al-Tanīr. The first version of the lyrics was very short as it only contained the first stanza of the current version.[1][2] Since then, the anthem has been expanded. The abridged version of the anthem is usually used, while the full version is reserved for special occasions.[3]

يوم أحييت لنا
نهضة تحفزنا
تتسامى فوق هام الشهب

English translation

I
Long live the King!
Long live the King!
His position sublime,
His banners waving in glory supreme.

II
We achieved our goal,
On the day you revived for us,
A revolution gives us our motivation!
Flying over the shoulders of the highest comets.

Chorus:
O king of Arabs,
From the best prophet you have.
The honour of dynasty,
Talked about in the depths of books!

III
All the youthful men,
Are your armed armies
His determination never dies out!
Getting from your meaning a symbol of well-being![lower-alpha 1]

Chorus

IV
May you stay the light and the guide,
A master in being away of all sins and wrong-doing,
Living your life happily and well-respected!
Under your flying flag rests the glory of all Arabs.

Chorus[6]

Notes

  1. Translated literally. Meaning: "Getting from you the manners you have!"
