Mayo Clinic Health Systems
The Mayo Clinic Health System was founded in 1992. This system links the expertise of the Mayo Clinic with health care providers in local communities in southern Minnesota, western Wisconsin, and northeastern Iowa.[5] The Mayo Clinic and Mayo Health Systems re-branded their integrated health system to be known as Mayo Clinic Health System on May 23, 2011. The Mayo Clinic Health System consist of hospitals, clinics, and medical service centers. The Fountain Centers were established by the Mayo Clinic in 1974 to assist individuals and their families that have alcohol and other drug problems.[6][7]
Some its facilities in southwest Minnesota (a hospital, clinics and emergency room in Springfield, Minnesota and clinics in Lamberton, Minnesota) were forced to close in 2019–2020 due to a lack of patients and doctors, which lead to negative operating margins.[8]

Mayo Clinic Care Network
In September 2011, the Mayo Clinic launched a separate concept, the Mayo Clinic Care Network, which is a collection of facilities in the United States and around the world with access to Mayo Clinic protocols and experts. This network extends beyond the Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa region of the Mayo Clinic Health System.[19][20][21]
