Norbaeocystin is a N-demethylated derivative of baeocystin (itself a N-demethylated derivative of psilocybin), and a phosphorylated derivative of 4-hydroxytryptamine. 4-hydroxytryptamine is notable in being a positional isomer of serotonin, which is 5-hydroxytryptamine.
