Waveney was a local government district with its administrative headquarters at Lowestoft, that was also the main town in the district and the second in Suffolk. The other towns were Beccles, Bungay, Halesworth and Southwold. The district was merged with Suffolk Coastal district on 1 April 2019 to form the new East Suffolk district. There are 59 civil parishes in the area.
